Ryan Tomlinson's Story

We love to hear from you!!!

Thank you for signing the guestbook (link on the left).

We love freckles!

Ten years ago Ryan was born with total intestinal Hirschsprung's Disease. Even though Ryan's story to date has been very challenging with daily obstacles, we feel blessed and think of Ryan as our miracle boy.  Ryan has had to deal with 8 major gut surgeries in addition to 8 other minor surgeries. These numbers do not include the countless hospitalizations he has had through the years for various issues.

Currently, Ryan has a port-a-cath for IV nutrition 6 nights a week, a gastrostomy tube, and a permanent ileostomy because he had his entire colon removed in 2006.  He is now in the fourth grade at Great Oaks Elementary.  Ryan has an older brother Zackary who is in the seventh grade at Cedar Valley.

When Ryan is at his best, you would never know he has any health issues.  He loves to play outside with his friends.  He has tons of energy and gets along great with everyone.

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. In Round Rock, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like local boy Ryan Tomlinson.

Born on January 18, 2000, Ryan was diagnosed with Hirschprung’s Disease, and doctors at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania recommended a life-saving small bowel transplant. An estimated $75,000 is being raised by Round Rock volunteers.
